Children’s and Student Privacy (United States)
BQWare makes educational games for children. Our apps in the Kids category, including their School Edition versions, do not collect personal information from children or students. Things to Learn, which is not in the Kids category, is described separately below.
What our apps do
- They work without accounts, sign-in or registration, and they work offline.
- They do not collect, access or transmit personal information of any kind.
- They contain no third-party code (SDKs) for analytics, advertising, crash reporting or social media.
- They show no third-party advertising and have no social media features. Some screens promote other BQWare apps. These screens sit behind a parental gate, which asks the user to add two numbers, and they open that app’s page on the App Store. The only link to our website is the Privacy Policy link; the apps also link to Apple’s standard End User License Agreement (EULA). Both links sit behind the parental gate and are included following Apple’s App Store guidelines.
- Progress and settings, if any, are stored only in the app’s own sandbox on the device. BQWare never receives them, and deleting the app removes them.
- We do not sell, share or use any data for advertising, profiling or any other purpose, because we do not have it!
School Edition versions
The School Edition versions of our apps contain no in-app purchases. They keep the same parental gate in front of the screens that promote other BQWare apps.
Things to Learn
Things to Learn, including its School Edition version, is not in the Kids category. It lets the user create tests and send their results by email. The test names are typed by the user, and the results are created and stored only in the app’s sandbox on the device. They leave the device only when the user chooses to send them by email, to the address the user chooses. BQWare does not receive, store or process these results. Because the user decides what to type and where to send the results, we recommend that test names do not include personal information about children or students. The user types the recipient’s email address in the app; the app does not read it from the device’s settings or accounts. The email is then sent through the device’s own mail composer, from the user’s own mail account.
COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act)
Because our Kids apps do not collect personal information from children, there is nothing to request parental consent for. This website is intended for adults (parents, teachers and school administrators), not for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the website. If you believe a child has sent us information, write to privacy@bqware.com and we will delete it.
FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act)
BQWare does not receive education records or student information. Schools do not need to give us any student data to use our apps, and the apps do not send any to us.
Apple and purchases
Our apps are distributed through Apple’s App Store and Apple School Manager, under Apple’s own terms and privacy policies. Apple handles all payments. BQWare does not receive or store payment or personal information about buyers or users. We see only aggregated sales and download statistics that do not identify individuals.
What this website collects
If you contact us through the website, we receive the name and email address you provide, and only to answer you. We do not sell them or use them for advertising. This website uses a cookie-consent tool that records your choice. Details about the cookies and services the site uses, and how to change or revoke your consent, are available through the “Change privacy settings” and “Revoke consents” links in the Privacy menu.
