BQWare states the following about the apps listed above:
- BQWare does not collect, receive or store personal information of students or of any other user through the apps.
- The apps do not receive or use education records or any student information from a school or district.
- The apps work without accounts, sign-in or registration, and they work fully offline.
- The apps contain no third-party software development kits (SDKs): no analytics, advertising, crash reporting or social media code.
- The apps show no third-party advertising and have no social media features. Some screens promote other BQWare apps; they sit behind a parental gate (adding two numbers) and open that app’s page on the App Store. The only link to our website is the Privacy Policy link; the apps also link to Apple’s standard End User License Agreement (EULA). Both links sit behind the parental gate and are included following Apple’s App Store guidelines.
- The apps contain no in-app purchases.
- Progress and settings, if any, are stored only in the app’s sandbox on the device and are never sent to BQWare.
- Things to Learn School Edition lets the user create tests and send their results by email. The test names are typed by the user. The results are stored only in the app’s sandbox on the device and leave it only when the user chooses to send them by email, to an address the user chooses. BQWare does not receive, store or process them. The user types the recipient’s email address in the app; the app does not read it from the device’s settings or accounts. The email is then sent through the device’s own mail composer, from the user’s own mail account.
- BQWare does not sell, share or use student data for advertising, profiling or any other purpose, because it holds none.
- Eight of the nine apps are in the Kids category and collect no personal information from children, so verifiable parental consent under COPPA is not applicable to them. Things to Learn is not in the Kids category; see statement 8.
- If a future version of a covered app collects any student data, BQWare will tell its customers before release and will not do so in a School Edition app without a signed data privacy agreement.
This statement describes the apps as of the date above and applies to the versions listed. Questions: privacy@bqware.com.
